How to create and manage smart phrases
Smart phrases help you save time by enabling you to select or enter a short code that will then populate other information automatically as you continue writing. For example, you may use the code .ppw which when selected or typed in will automatically change to “patient presents with.”
Your Practice Jewel system comes with a selection of pre-set content, which you can add to as necessary. This tutorial covers how to create and manage your smart phrases.
Creating Smart Phrases
- To define a new smart phrase, go to Website Control > Clinic Settings
- Next, click on the “Smart Phrases” tab.
- On the resulting screen, click on “Add New”
- In the “trigger phrase” box enter a short code that will be used to select or populate the phrase.
- Next, you can enter information that will appear either before or after your cursor’s present position by entering in the appropriate box.
- After entering your smart phrase itself, you can choose the default area this phrase will appear in from the “Default Area” drop down.
- When finished, just save. Your new phrase will now appear in the list.
Deleting a Smart Phrase.
- To delete a smart phrase for the entire clinic, go to Website Control > Clinic Settings
- Next, click on the “Smart Phrases” tab.
- Locate the phrase you wish to remove and click the “X” icon to delete it.
Editing a Smart Phrase
- To edit a smart phrase, go to Website Control > Clinic Settings
- Next click on the “Smart Phrases” tab.
- On the resulting screen, click the pencil icon for the phrases you want to edit.
- Make your changes in the provided boxes and then click “save.”
Sorting Smart Phrases
- To change what category a given smart phrase is placed into, begin by going to Website Control > User Accounts.
- Click the Pencil Icon for the user whose smart phrases you wish to edit.
- On the resulting screen, click on the “Smart Phrases” tab.
- Use the move (compass) icon to move smart phrases around into the desired categories.
