How to configure your third-party domain to work with your mindZplay system

If you have purchased a domain (i.e. www.yourbusinessnamehere.com) through a third party (i.e. GoDaddy, Google Domains, etc..) you may be wondering what setup is required in order for it to work with your mindZplay system. The following information should provide whatever you (or your webmaster) will need to know in order to configure things correctly. To determine what settings you should implement, please read the following scenarios carefully:

If your website content is hosted with mindZplay:

Do you plan to use the mindZplay website features with a third-party domain? If so, you will need to ensure that domain is pointed to the following name servers:

NS1.mindzplay.com
NS2.mindzplay.com

In this scenario, if you are using the practice management functions you will also want to contact us so we can set you up with a free domain-based e-mail account. This setup needs to be done at our end and we will look after all the necessary configuration to ensure your email gets delivered.

If your website is being hosted with a third party:

Do you plan to use a third-party website service? (i.e. Wix, Weebly, etc.) If so, you will need to ensure your practice management system gets recognized as a valid sender of email. This is necessary for reminders, confirmations, and mass e-mail messages get delivered. To set this up, there are two different DNS settings you or your webmaster will need to modify:

  1. First, you must add the following DKIM record to your domain settings, being sure to replace PUTYOURDOMAINHERE.COM with your own domain:

    hostname: mail._domainkey.
    PUTYOURDOMAINHERE.COM
    type: TXT
    value:      v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQDCGShDdGKgeHDrTAwRo5Z8DLoS5oRmtmU4aj/HxuPIIoJYhMgrmYTeqPav+1Ocym7cplV0p8MXkavSQmYIswH7rr1TYO8xSpb5dUBTZmzfch30UxCCe0xDfSIgcgTLXEbj0Lbm9/fn7HdzTBcLfmmgGbLsAGAheUx2GUAPcMfbdQIDAQAB;

  2. Second, you (or your webmaster) must also add the following SPF TXT record to the DNS:

    v=spf1 mx a:spf.mindzplay.net ~all

  3. Contact mindZplay support and let us know that the above changes are complete. When the changes on your end are done, we will need to verify that the setup was completed correctly and perform a few steps on this end to ensure the system plays nicely with your third-party setup.

In Summary

It is important to keep in mind that in both these scenarios, the completed changes will take a little time to populate through the network before they take effect.
